GOOD FRIDAY

This Good Friday, as part of our Orthodox celebration, we will honor the memory of over 300 beloved souls who have departed. Each name will be placed on a luminary with a candle inside, to be lit as we proceed with the traditional Epidathio procession. These candles illuminate our path and create a solemn atmosphere of remembrance around our church. As a community, we will reflect on their lives and legacies on this sacred day.

HOLY SATURDAY

Holy Saturday

Kali Anastasi (Καλή Ανάσταση), soon we will take part in the greatest mystery and tell the story of our faith, the resurrection of our lord Christ. Today, thousands of the Orthodox faithful poured into Jerusalem to Christ’s Tomb to receive the holy flame. All orthodox Christians tonight do the same in their communities as they take from one light within the internal prayers of the alter a flame then given to each other as brothers and sisters in Christ to one family and one community so that we can together go out together together together as one to say Χριστός Ανέστη (Christ is Risen) Καλό Πάσχα Χριστός ανέστη εκ νεκρών, θανάτω θάνατον πατήσας, και τοις εν τοις μνήμασι ζωήν χαρισάμενος.

Χριστὸς ἀνέστη! Ἀληθῶς ἀνέστη! Christ Is Risen! Truly He Is Risen!

“It is the day of Resurrection; let us be radiant for the festival, and let us embrace one another. Let us say, O brethren, even to those that hate us: Let us forgive all things on the Resurrection; and thus let us cry: Christ is risen from the dead, by death He has trampled down death, and on those in the tombs He has bestowed life.” (Doxastikon of Great and Holy Pascha)On the holy and great Sunday of Pascha we celebrate the very life-bearing Resurrection of our Lord and God and Savior Jesus Christ. This feast of feasts is the most significant day in the life of the Church. It is a celebration of the defeat of death, as neither death itself nor the power of the grave could hold our Savior captive. In this victory that came through the Cross, Christ broke the bondage of sin, and through faith offers us restoration, transformation, and eternal life.
